Industrial Training Unit

Industrial Training Unit (ITU) is a promising segment of the Faculty of Computing which aims to provide a better career to its undergraduates. Industrial Training is a non-GPA 6-credit module in the curricula of all the degrees offered by Faculty of Computing, to expose the students to the IT industry for learning work ethics, practice professional conduct, experience the organization cultures & processes, and practice to solve the industrial problem using the gained knowledge.

The ultimate aim of the training is to facilitate the student to perform a self-evaluation and develop own career plan. Industrial Training Unit is there to assist the students to appoint as an intern and further coordinates the outside organizations for monitoring and evaluation of the students. Then the ITU has been performing its duties since 2015 and could assist more than 400 Undergraduates in prominent software engineering companies as well as other leading Private & Governmental industries in Sri Lanka.

Further, it plans and conducts different industrial visits, workshops, and activities for the undergraduates at each level of the degree programs. ITU is presently working to set up an incubation center for entrepreneurship which providing a platform where undergraduates’ ideas can be nurtured into a viable business with expert mentoring, networking, and funding.
