Internet of Things (IOT)

Internet of Things (IoT) research group at the Faculty of Computing, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University engages in research and development in the area of Internet of Things and various applications on top of these networks. Our research work is largely motivated by the needs of real-time information gathering through embedded sensor networks in unattended environments and effective information sharing over various networks such as the Internet. Our group members’ research interests span computer networking, wireless communication, embedded systems (especially wireless sensor systems), and computational mathematics for IoT and Machine Learning. We emphasize both analytical and empirical approaches, and build actual systems to validate our theoretical results and also refine the system principles based on observations obtained from experimental work.

The current focus of Internet of Things Research group is towards:

  • Research and development on applications of Internet of Things (IoT) such as agriculture, healthcare, military applications, and smart cities.
  • Power Management in IoT
  • Applications of Machine Learning in the Internet of Things

Research Areas on IoT:

Power Electronics in IoT, IoT applications for smart agriculture/ Health/ etc…, ML in IoT, Power Management in IoT
