The Opening Ceremony of Huawei Innovation Laboratory
The grand opening of the first-ever Huawei Innovation Laboratory in Sri Lanka was held on the 10th of March 2021 at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU). The ceremony was graced by General G.D.H. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Ministry Secretary of Defence. Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Commander of the Navy, Mr PBSC Nonis, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP, Vice-Chancellor of KDU, Brigadier Prasad Edirisinghe, Rector Southern Campus KDU, and Commodore Janaka Gunaseela USP, psc, the Dean Faculty of Computing were also present at this inaugural ceremony. Mr Ricardo Xiaohua, Deputy CEO of Huawei Sri Lanka, Indika De Zoysa, Vice President Enterprise Business, Nadun Gunawardana, Solution Director and Kasun Wadimuna, Product Manager joined the celebration representing Huawei Technologies Sri Lanka.
This milestone event of KDU will enable greater opportunities for both students and staff establishing joint innovative research with Huawei Sri Lanka as it will also provide a higher standard of training and certificate courses to the students of KDU and the general public. This Innovation Laboratory will strengthen the ICT industry of Sri Lanka by producing high-quality ICT talents that will be beneficial for society.
