Research Collaboration between the Faculty of Computing and Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna

The Faculty of Computing at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) recently had an initial discussion with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Ruhuna (UoR) regarding research and development in the field of Internet-of-Things (IoT) for sustainable agriculture and farming on 13th June 2023 in hybrid mode at the faculty premises at KDU Southern campus. Snr Prof (Mrs) D Rathnasekara, Prof. MKDK Piyaratne, Dr.Prabath Priyankara, Dr.KKLB Adikaram from UoR, and  Dr.Pradeep Kalansooriya (Research Coordinator of Faculty of Computing, KDU), Dr MWP Maduranga, Mr Shashika Wijerathne, Mr Ashen Wanniarachchi, Ms Dinoo Gunasekara and Ms Dasuni Ganepola from KDU participated in this discussion.

The main objective behind this initiative is to develop innovative solutions using IoT technology which will drive Sri Lankan farmers towards achieving greater agricultural success. This collaboration will be a great opportunity to explore new technologies that can help improve agricultural productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

It is also expected that this joint venture will open up further avenues for knowledge transfer between both universities thus creating a platform where students and faculty members alike can engage in meaningful collaborations focused on developing cutting-edge technological solutions applicable across multiple industries.
