The new auditorium and IT Laboratory at Southern Campus of Sir John Kottalawala Defence University, was declared open by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, on 4^th August 2019.

The Vice Chancellor of KDU, Air Vice Marshal Sagara Kotakadeniya, the Rector of the Southern Campus, Brigadier Adeepa Thilakarathna, the Deans of Faculty of Computing and Faculty of Spatial Sciences , lecturers , tri-forces personnel and a large number of students were presented on this occasion.

In memory of this event, a sapling was planted at the auditorium premises, by the Commander of the Navy and also he took time off to talk with the sailors who joined in the construction work of the auditorium.

This new auditorium which was constructed utilizing the technology, skills and creativity of Naval Civil Engineering branch, provides seating facility with all new equipment a big audience at a time.
