The IEEE Computer Society Student Chapter at KDU successfully organized අර්ථ, a CSR initiative aimed at supporting students of Medagama Abhaya Model School, with a special focus on those preparing for the Ordinary Level Examinations this March.

Held on February 3rd, 2025, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Computing, the project brought together a dedicated team of undergraduates, lecturers, and faculty members, including Dr. Pradeep Kalansooriya, Dean of the Faculty of Computing. The team visited the school and conducted several interactive sessions designed to provide academic support and motivation. Students actively participated in sessions on Mathematics, English, and Science, along with a special discussion on future pathways after O/Ls. A parallel robotics session sparked curiosity and excitement, becoming one of the event’s highlights. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from students reinforced the impact of these efforts.

Beyond academic sessions, the initiative also addressed the school’s urgent need for UPS units in the computer lab. Undergraduates from Intake 41, Faculty of Computing, stepped forward to fulfill this requirement through generous contributions.
