Preconference Workshop – Smart Solutions for a Smart Future with AI

The preconference workshop of the 16th International Research Conference of Faculty of Computing, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, held on 6th September 2023 was a great success, with attendees from across the university. The workshop featured two speakers: Mr. Nisal Mihiranga, a Data Science professional with over 11 years of experience, and Dr. Kaneeka Vidanage, an experienced academic with close to 15 years of work experience in AI.

Mr. Mihiranga’s presentation, titled “Generative AI” explored the many ways that AI is being used to improve our lives. He discussed how AI is being used in healthcare, transportation, finance, and other industries. He also talked about the challenges of using AI and the ethical considerations that need to be taken into account.

Dr. Vidanage’s presentation, titled “Ontology Based AI” looked at the potential of AI to revolutionize the way we live and work. He discussed how AI could be used to automate tasks, improve decision-making, and create new products and services. He also talked about the challenges of developing safe and reliable AI systems.

The workshop was well-received by the attendees, who found the presentations to be informative and engaging. Many of the attendees said that they learned a lot about AI and that they are excited to see how it will be used in the future.
