On September 5, 2024, the Department of Information Technology at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University–Southern Campus hosted an insightful guest talk at Classroom RW 0.2 for second-year IT undergraduates. The event featured two distinguished speakers, Ms. Sathsara Thalawattha and Ms. Ruwinika Rodrigo, who introduced students to the dynamic field of UI/UX design and the transformative potential of the Microsoft Power Platform.

The first session, primarily led by Ms. Sathsara Thalawattha, a UI/UX Engineer and Power Platform Developer at XSoftSolution with over three years of experience, focused on UI/UX design. She shared her expertise in creating user-friendly interfaces, emphasizing the importance of understanding user needs to craft seamless digital experiences. The session included practical activities related to user interface design, where students actively participated and applied the concepts in real time. Ms. Thalawattha’s engaging presentation, filled with practical examples, made complex design principles more accessible and resonated with the audience. The session concluded with great success, leaving participants with a deeper understanding of UI/UX design.

The second session, titled “Empowering Digital Transformation with Microsoft Power Platform,” was mainly led by Ms. Ruwinika Rodrigo, also a UI/UX Engineer and Power Platform Developer at XSoftSolution, contributed significantly by highlighting the role of Frontend Engineering in delivering impactful digital solutions. Her dedication to continuous learning and growth inspired students to explore innovative approaches to design.
