SEGP- GT-7.0 :Exploring Business Analysis and Project Management Essentials
The Department of Information Technology of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University-Southern Campus hosted an insightful guest talk on business analysis and project management, held online via Zoom, at 7 pm onwards, on September 11, 2024. This session was specially organized for the undergraduates of the department of Information Technology, providing them with valuable knowledge from an industry professional.
The guest speaker for the session was Mr. Sasanka Fonseka, a Senior Business Analyst at Eight25Media, who has a distinguished background in Information Technology and a wealth of experience in business analysis and project management. Mr. Fonseka’s career began after he graduated with a First Class Honors in BSc (Hons) Information Technology from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in 2018 and also he has completed his MBA from the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) and awaiting graduation. Moreover he has served as the Secretary of the IEEE Student Branch in 2017.
During the session, Mr. Fonseka provided a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of business analysis and project management. He discussed key principles, methodologies, and tools that are essential for success in these fields with practical insights and real-world examples that resonated with the audience, particularly in areas such as stakeholder management, and requirement gathering. His engaging delivery and deep expertise created an interactive and dynamic learning environment for the students. Participants were encouraged to ask questions, and Mr. Fonseka’s approachable style made complex topics accessible and understandable.
The session concluded with a heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Sasanka Fonseka for his invaluable contribution.
