The Southern Premier League 2024, orchestrated by the dynamic students of Intake 39 IT/IS at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, unfolded as a captivating display of cricketing talent and fervor. From March 18th to March 21st, 2024, the event unfolded at the scenic KDU Southern Campus Ground Premises, drawing spectators into the heart of competitive cricket.

Kicking off the tournament were the girls’ qualifying matches on March 18th, with eight teams vying for dominance. The excitement soared on March 20th with the boys’ qualifying matches, as fifteen teams battled fiercely for a coveted spot in the finals.

March 21st dawned with anticipation as the boys’ semi-finals took center stage, paving the way for an enthralling showdown in the evening. Gracing the finals as the esteemed chief guest was Rector Southern Campus, Major General LCR Jayasuriya RSP ndc psc, alongside distinguished guests including Dean Faculty of Built Environmental and Spatial Sciences Dr. AH Lakmal and Senior Deputy Dean Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies Commander SMT Priyadarshana psc.

In a riveting girls’ final, the Surveying Sciences Team emerged triumphant over the Intake 40 IT/IS Team, showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork. Meanwhile, the boys’ final witnessed a pulsating clash between the Kenilworth Drone Team and Intake 39 Quantity Surveying Team, with the latter clinching victory in a thrilling finale.

The celebration crescendoed with a breathtaking drone show by Kenilworth International Pvt Ltd, epitomizing the triumph of the winning team. The festivities concluded with a pulsating DJ night featuring DJ Cash, providing a fitting finale to an unforgettable tournament.
