The Department-Industry Consultative Board (DICB) of the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Computing, convened on July 29, 2024, at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. The primary aim was to evaluate the curricula of the BSc (Hons) Information Technology Degree and BSc (Hons) Information Systems Degree offered by the department. The meeting was attended by notable figures, including Dr. Predeep Kalansooriya, Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Mr. WAAM Wanniarachchi, Head of the Department of Information Technology, other Heads of Departments within the Faculty of Computing, the HOD of Industrial Quality Management, the HOD of Languages, and various academic staff members. Esteemed senior academia from different universities also participated, such as Prof. MSD Fernando from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, Dr. Ruwan Wickramarachchi from the Faculty of Industrial Management at the University of Kelaniya, and Dr. Saminda Premarathne from the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Moratuwa. Industry experts including Mr. Anura Adhikari, Senior Manager of Employee Success at 99x, Ms. Thilini Samaranayake, SAP Technical Consultant at Rizing Consumer Industries, and Mr. Sidath Weerasinghe, Tech Lead at Axiata Digital Labs, also contributed. Together, they facilitated a productive discussion to revise the programme structure and improve the professional conduct of the degree programmes for future intakes.
