Workshop on "Current Updates in National Accounting"

The Entrepreneurial Support, Industrial Training, and Career Guidance Unit (eICU) of the Faculty of Computing and Department of Information Technology Intake 40 Information Systems students at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University successfully organized a workshop in collaboration with the Department of National Accounts at the Department of Census and Statistics Sri Lanka.

On April 2nd, 2025, the workshop focused on “Current Updates in National Accounting.” This workshop was organized as part of the Economics module, offering students valuable insights into how accounting functions within the country, with a special emphasis on Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The session provided an in-depth understanding of the workings of GDP, including how it is calculated and the differences between current and constant prices in Sri Lanka. To enrich the learning experience, we were honored to host a guest lecture from Mrs. Y. G. R. I. Kulathilaka, the Deputy Director of the Department of National Accounts at the Department of Census and Statistics. Her expertise and practical insights were highly appreciated by all attendees.

We extend our gratitude to Mrs. Kulathilaka for taking the time to share her valuable knowledge and to all those who contributed to making this workshop a success.
